struggling-dublin-worker-needs-support-after-living-in-car

A Dublin worker who’s been crashing in his car for two years now is reaching out for help, saying he’s got no other way out of this mess than with some support. Keith, not his real name, spilled the beans to Dublin Live about the tough spot he’s in. He mentioned that he spends most of his time outside of work just hanging around because he doesn’t have a place to call home. The poor Dubliner is practically begging for assistance and he’d be super thankful to anyone willing to lend a helping hand.

“Unfortunately, I’ve been stuck in this homeless car-living situation for the past couple of years,” Keith shared. “I’m just a regular working guy trying to make ends meet here in Dublin. Due to some rough times in my personal life and some debts piling up, I got shoved into this situation. I’ve looked at tons of options for renting a place but couldn’t swing it because of the debt. I couldn’t even afford rent and food at that point. So, here I am, living in my car with no other choice.”

Keith spilled the beans to Dublin Live reporter Robbie Kane about how he’s managed to keep his children in the dark about his living situation. “It’s really tough because I have to keep telling them that I’m just moving around for work, going from job to job and traveling around the country,” he said. “We hang out for a few days, catch a movie or something, but there are always questions. I try to dodge them or change the subject. I don’t want them to know or be hurt by the truth.”

He went on to share what his daily routine has been like over the past two years. “From the beginning of this car-living journey till now, I’ve picked up a few tricks,” Keith mentioned. “I joined a gym and got a subscription so I can use their showers and facilities. That’s how I manage to stay clean every day. The rest of the time, I’m just wandering around. I go to work, finish my shift, and depending on the timing, I end up roaming the streets for six or seven hours before heading back to my car to park it in different spots.”

Keith expressed that he’s got no way out of this situation other than with some support, which is why he’s making this plea for help. “I don’t see a light at the end of this tunnel. I really need some help,” he said. “I’m on a housing list but I thought I could just hide out in my car and wait it out, hoping things would magically fall into place one day. But here I am, two years later, still struggling and not getting any closer to a solution.”

He added, “I just need something, anything to get out of this car. I can’t afford to pay a huge rent right now. I can chip in a bit and once I’m out of this mess, I’d be more than happy to rent a place like a normal person. I’d be extremely grateful to anyone who can offer support because I know it’s not easy to hear a stranger’s story and decide to help out. There are so many people facing problems these days and I’m just one more person in need of a hand.”
