man-arrested-on-m1-for-speeding-in-stolen-car

Armed officers and air support were, like, totally used to stop a car that was being driven in an “extremely hazardous” manner in Northern Ireland. It’s like a real action movie happening in real life, you know? The PSNI said that An Garda Síochána informed them that a BMW, which was reported stolen from Dublin last Sunday, was like speeding on the A1 outside Jonesborough, Co Armagh, on Saturday. Despite efforts made to stop the car, the driver continued on deflated tires along the M1 at like more than 125km/h. Can you even imagine the adrenaline rush the officers must have felt trying to catch this guy?

A 24-year-old man was arrested after the car was, like, finally brought to a stop on the M1 near Lisburn. “Specially trained interceptor officers were able to track the vehicle with the overhead assistance of our Air Support Unit,” chief superintendent Mark Roberts said. Like, can you picture the scene with the helicopter up above tracking the car down? It’s like something out of a movie, right? “Roads Policing Unit officers safely deployed a stinger device in the Hillsborough area, in order to prevent a pursuit through busy weekend traffic; however, the vehicle continued on deflated tires along the M1, at speeds in excess of 80mph. The manner of driving was extremely hazardous, weaving in and out of traffic and even, like, at times, continuing along the hard shoulder. Officers from the armed response unit eventually brought the vehicle to a controlled stop in a city-bound lane of the M1, between Lisburn and Black’s Road. The driver, a 24-year-old man, was arrested on suspicion of failing to stop for police, dangerous driving, handling stolen goods, no license, and no insurance. He remains in custody at this time.”

Mr Roberts added: “One police vehicle sustained minor damage, and one officer injured his hands while extracting the suspect from his damaged vehicle. Thankfully, he did not require hospital treatment and was able to remain on duty. We, like, alongside our cross-Border partner organizations, remain committed to disrupting the activities of those involved in criminal activity. This arrest was the result of the fantastic collective efforts of officers and staff from across our service, and demonstrates the lengths we go to each day, working together to make our communities safer.” Can we just take a moment to appreciate the hard work these officers put in to keep us safe?

The whole situation just goes to show that you never know what’s going to happen out there on the roads. It’s like a wild, wild world we live in, and you never know who might be driving next to you. Maybe it’s just me, but I feel like we should be more aware of our surroundings when we’re out and about. Not really sure why this matters, but it’s just something that’s been on my mind lately. At the end of the day, we should all be grateful for the brave men and women who put themselves in harm’s way to protect us. Let’s give them the respect and appreciation they deserve. Like, seriously.
