Gardaí in Ashbourne, Co Meath are asking for any witnesses to come forward following a tragic road accident on Dublin Road (R135) on Saturday evening. The collision involved a car and a pedestrian, and emergency services rushed to the scene around 7.10pm. Sadly, the pedestrian, a woman in her 60s, was pronounced dead right there. Her body was taken to Our Lady’s Hospital in Navan for a postmortem examination. The driver and passenger of the car, both in their 20s, were taken to Connolly Hospital Blanchardstown for treatment of injuries that are said to be not life-threatening. The road was shut down for a while so Garda forensic collision investigators could do their thing, and it was expected to stay closed until the next afternoon.
