Drogheda train commuters gonna soon use Leap cards to head to Dublin as some big changes about to start next week. The Leap card area gonna spread to a 50km radius from Dublin city center as part of four new fare zones for Irish Rail services. The Old Leap card zone covered stations like Rush & Lusk to the north of Dublin city, Bray to the south, Hazelhatch to the southwest, Maynooth to the west and M3 Parkway to the northwest, but the new zone gonna cover Termonfeckin in the north, extending to Longwood in the northwest, stretching to Kildare town in the southwest, and going all the way down to Rathdrum in the south. The new fares will kick in from next Monday, April 28. The following is a list for fares for different zones: Leap Travel Credit Fare Adult Young Adult / Child Child Zone 1 (TFI 90 Minute Fare) €2.00 €1.00 €0.65 Zone 1 (Short fare) €1.50 €0.75 – Mode Train Train Train Zone 2 (to City Centre) €3.90 €1.95 €1.95 Zone 3 (to City Centre) €6.00 €3.00 €3.00 Zone 4 (to City Centre) €7.50 €3.75 €3.75 Adult Leap Card users gonna need to have a minimum balance of €2.50 on their TFI Leap Card to travel on Irish Rail services. Commuters can keep traveling within Zone 1 for free if you travel from Zones 2, 3 or 4 and touch-on again in Zone 1 within 90 minutes of your first touch-on. From April 28, new zonal tickets gonna be available to load onto your Leap Card using the Leap Top-up App. • Zone 1 gonna have monthly tickets available for Adult, Young Adults/Students and Child Leap Cards. Annual tickets gonna be available for adults only. • Zones 2, 3 and 4 gonna have Leap 24 hour, 7 day and monthly tickets available for Adult, Young Adults/Students and Child Leap Cards. Annual tickets gonna be available for adults only. • Prepaid tickets to travel to Zone 1, from Zones 2, 3 or 4, gonna include free travel on Luas, TFI Dublin City Bus and rail services within Zone 1.
