Construction Begins on 146 North Dublin Homes in LDA and DCC Joint Development
In a significant step towards addressing the housing crisis in Dublin, construction has officially commenced on a new development that will see the creation of 146 homes in north Dublin. The joint project between the Land Development Agency (LDA) and Dublin City Council (DCC) marks a crucial milestone in the ongoing efforts to provide affordable housing options in the city.
A New Community Hub Takes Shape
Located on Cromcastle Road in Coolock, the development, known as An tSrĂșill, will consist of 133 cost rental homes and 13 social homes. In addition to the residential units, the project will also feature new community, cultural, and open spaces, enriching the fabric of the local neighborhood. Situated on a 1.7-acre site at the junction of Oscar Traynor Road and Kilmore Road, the development is strategically positioned near key amenities such as Beaumont Hospital and the Northside Shopping Centre.
Enhancing Biodiversity and Public Spaces
The scope of the project extends beyond housing, with a focus on creating a vibrant and sustainable environment. The development will incorporate apartments, public open spaces, and communal amenities, all designed to enhance biodiversity and promote a sense of community. New landscaping, a public plaza, and green spaces will contribute to the overall attractiveness of the area, offering residents a high-quality living experience.
Collaboration for a Better Future
John Coleman, Chief Executive of the LDA, expressed his enthusiasm for the project, highlighting its impact on the local community and the broader housing landscape in Dublin. Richard Shakespeare, Chief Executive of DCC, echoed this sentiment, emphasizing the commitment to maximizing the housing potential of land owned by the council. The collaboration between the LDA and DCC underscores a shared dedication to delivering high-quality, affordable housing options for Dublin residents.
As construction progresses on An tSrĂșill, it serves as a beacon of hope for those in need of stable and affordable housing in Dublin. The development not only addresses the immediate housing shortage but also sets a precedent for future collaborations and initiatives aimed at creating sustainable communities. With each brick laid and each wall erected, An tSrĂșill represents a step closer to a more inclusive and thriving Dublin for all its residents.
