Man Faces Court for Fatal Blanchardstown Hit-and-Run
A man in his 40s has been charged in connection with a tragic hit-and-run incident that resulted in the death of a married couple in Dublin on St Stephen’s Day. The driver allegedly fled the scene after striking Georgina Hogg Moore (39) and her husband Anthony “Anto” Hogg (40) as they were crossing the road in Blanchardstown.
Suspects Apprehended
Following the incident, the man turned himself in at Blanchardstown Garda station later that night, where a car was seized for examination. The man has now been formally charged, while another suspect, a woman, has also been arrested and is being held for questioning under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act 1984 at a Garda station in Dublin.
Legal Proceedings and Appeals
The male suspect is scheduled to appear before Dublin District Court in the Criminal Courts of Justice on Monday morning. It has been reported that his questioning was temporarily halted due to medical reasons. Gardaí are urging anyone who may have witnessed the collision on Blanchardstown Road North between 5pm and 6pm on December 26, 2024, to come forward with any relevant camera footage, including dashcam recordings.
Community Support and Fundraiser
The tragic incident occurred as the couple was headed home in Whitestown, Dublin 15, with their two teenage children. Despite the devastating loss of both parents, their daughter, who was present during the collision, miraculously escaped unharmed. An online fundraiser has been set up to assist the children, which has already garnered nearly €24,000 in donations.
